We're Fine....We're Just Tired!

Did not do a blog yesterday, I had no strength left to type.  And tonight is even worse, but I figured you might think we had changed our minds and headed back to the house.  No way! Even though I am tired I am lovin' it!!!
This is what we have been doing. Loading pictures is less work than typing :)

Mickey, Jim and Art blowing leaves on our loop.  After the winter months and thousands of trees, there are a few leaves piled up that have to moved. Away from bathrooms, drains in the ditches, campsites, roads, etc.
The ones of us who do not blow leaves because the blowers are very heavy, we pick up sticks.
Leaves, sticks, leaves, sticks,.....hmmm wonder which there is more of in a forest?

Looks like a big gust of wind just blew through.  No wait that is Art's blower. :)

Cooper and Effie, were riding along in the Cradle truck with me. I move the truck along with the gas for the blowers. And I go for anything they may need, like water, bathroom break, food, etc.

Cooper is almost asleep. They have had their schedules turned upside down too and fall asleep pretty fast.  Right now they are both fast asleep.  :)))  Art is too!
After we finished today working on the loop Blue Gill, Jim, another host had gone home to get his log splitter.  We had not possibly done enough work for the day or tired enough so we split wood for 1 1/2 hours.  Ok now I'm really really tired.

Sure is easier than doing it by hand.

The Forest Service has cut down many trees this past winter. Either they were damaged or diseased. And so we can cut up all the firewood we want.

Sections of logs waiting to go through the splitter.  The rings are neat aren't they?
The we loaded up the first load in Jim's truck.  He likes to have fires as much as we do.

Aren't these nice size pieces?  Will make a great fire one evening.

This is a site that is down the road from us. I just love it. Probably one of my favorite sites in the park. It is #187 on Pine.

We are eating supper, which I could barely chew...:) and this Red Headed Woodpecker kept  flying around landing on trees outside our window. Beautiful bird, and there are many of them in here. So....I had to take his picture.

Isn't he cute??  He is looking at me, "take my picture."
Then as I was watching him I saw something move out of the corner of eye. Could it be, no, oh yes it is!!!!!!   A turkey, move Art get out of my way! That is what he said to our daughter Lindsay as he was talking to her on the phone, that I tried to run him over.  Not really but he was in my way!

Ahhh, look how she is peeking around the tree. No hiding the camera is on you!  I am snapping away.

Oh here she comes!!!  I am squealing now. As you can tell it doesn't take much to get me excited.

Isn't she a beauty?  Seeing them in the wild is just a privilege.

I would say this has been a good day.  The campground floor is cleaner, we have some very nice firewood, (thank you Jim) and I know I won't have ANY problems sleeping tonight.  I think I could even sleep on a rock slab, but hey I won't have to, we have our great memory foam.  Now if I don't blog for a day or two, you now know why.  We are pooped and resting.

From Hardin Ridge, we send best wishes and take care everyone!

    1. So cute Carolyn, sawing logs. The forest service did the sawing thank goodness. When I see wild life you had better not be in my way, no time to dilly around they will be gone.
      I hope I will.

  9. Hi Tammy, I guess that you are in the right place, with all that beauty but and the wild birds. Getting the park ready isn't a small job but you are all getting in shape and all this work revs up the appetite and makes for a good sleep. How's your heel healing?

    Have another great day.
    Hugs,
    JB

    1. Hi Julia, This park is beautiful that is for sure, and we are surrounded by many different wild animals. Definitely have more photos of them in the future. My heel is better but still very tender. In a really bad spot. Yes, trying to loose wt is hard when your appetite is bigger from all that work :)

  11. They might have those Pileated Woodpeckers (like Woody) there, too! Judy, also known as The Birdlady of Blogland, says the it is mating season for the turkeys...keep wine and cigarettes out for them..;-)

    1. Yes, there are Pileated in here. I tried to get a picture of one last year but he kept eluding me. I will try again this year. Yes, I know it is mating season as our turkeys at our old house were mating when we left. OK will do that.

  12. Wow, they sure do work you at that place! Don't you feel great, though, after a good day of hard work?

Beautiful woodpecker! And yes, seeing the wild turkeys was quite an event. I haven't seen any yet, but I get all excited, too, when I see an animal or bird in the wild and get a good photo of it. Makes my day!

That looks like a beautiful spot to be.

    1. Hi Barbara, it is hard work for the first 2 weeks and then it slacks way off. We didn't get in on the hard work last year as we came later. I do too, like a kid in a candy store. Thank you it is and we love it.
