Go Ahead and Laugh....We Are!

I am beginning to think all these little mishaps are happening for your benefit. Are you laughing yet? Well you will be. There will be NO pictures with this unfortunate accident. OK....now you all know when you turn the water on for the first time how there is tons of air in the lines and all that lovely pink RV anti freeze? I REALLY do now.  I decided to shower 1st last night, bad idea. Darn it Art why didn't you stop me.  I go in and get all my stuff ready, open the shower door, turn the shower head so it is not pointed "directly" at me. Well, apparently when the water shoots out at mach speed and hits the shower wall it turns the head directly at you!  I am covered with nice pink, cold water, oh and so is the floor, rugs, my towel. NOW you are laughing aren't you????  :)))))))
That's OK I did too, after my nice, long, hot shower. Gee it is amazing how quick you get cold when cold, pink water sprays you. I thought I deserved a nice long hot shower, don't you?  Art goes 2nd, so he has a nice warm bathroom, no anti freeze, and no hot water. Ha ha ha.....;-)

After all the shower fun was over we decided to watch a movie.  Good idea until we got these out of the cabinet.....

That is not a quarter, but the battery out of the remote.
Now why do they have to make these things so complicated.  We get the movie in the player, can't get it to play by clicking on the remote, so I get up and hit play on the player itself, works fine. But we have a picture that is 8 x 10 on a big screen TV.  I am getting a bad feeling right now, and I was right. I keep trying to adjust it with the remote, nope won't budge. I told Art the battery has to be dead, so I pop it out, and it is that small round one. Now who makes a remote with that kind of battery? We just so happen have one from a battery operated candle. It works! Now things are looking up. Nope, close captioning is on I hate that, I always want to read that instead of looking at the picture. Took us 20 minutes to get it off and with both remotes. It was on the TV and the DVD player, sheesh!  We had both books out, reading, (not laughing now) and saying where is Tommy (our SIL) He he a whiz at electronics, can figure out anything. But Tommy is over an hour away, probably not an option. But, we have to figure this out ourselves. We are smart people, well when it comes to electronics I wonder.  The computer and me are slowly making friends, and my Iphone is doing pretty well. By the time I get the hang of something they change it. Anyway, back to the movie, by the time we had it all figured out we were out of the mood to watch it. Just went to bed. Our, by the way, comfortable bed now.  I slept like a baby!  We will try the movie another night, when "everything" has gone right that day. Oh no, we won't ever be watching a movie again!!! :)

I drove now to the lake yesterday, it was so pretty. I love how the water and sky are almost the same color.  Boy I bet that water is freezing.

I can't wait to get out there again this year on a boat. The kids are coming down and we are going to rent a Pontoon boat and have a picnic and stay out there all day. Such fun!

Cooper and I were riding around on the golf cart trying to find a deer, turkey, squirrel, even a mouse to take a picture of. They were no where. Art saw a big Tom turkey this morning but I saw only this crow (figures I had the camera). He was pecking away at something really hard on this branch so I zoomed in and he is eating on a pine cone.  Smart bird. He was so tame just sat there looking at me. Take all the pictures you want he seemed to be saying.

While I was out on the golf cart Art had started our first fire of the season.  There is something wrong with our grill (no grilled chicken) so we had a wiener roast, and baked potatoes in the coals, Boy are they good.  When I came back I was freezing so I came in and made my "one" cup of coffee.  I look out the window and this is what I see.....

Don't they look pathetic?  Cold, tired and hungry poor fellows.

Cooper was not taking his eyes off the door. He thought I was coming back out. NO I was too cold.

This little red headed woodpecker was going through leaves over by the shower house like a ravaging bull. I don't know what was under there but leaves were flying. I took several pictures and this is the only one that turned out. Bad little birds they won't sit still.

I have no idea what kind of problems we will find ourselves in tonight but if they are funny, and amusing I will blog about them tomorrow. I am hoping for no blog, just kidding.

So from Hardin Ridge, best wishes and take care everyone. :)

    1. Sure does. We have had mishaps in the other RV's we have owned too, but with blogging it seems like they are happening more..hmmm wonder why that is?

  4. Some day you will laugh around the campfire. Better pink stuff than a black tank dump hose that gets you! ;) Been there, done that...

    1. We will definitely have many stories to tell other volunteers and future grandchildren. You are so right. Art would be the one with the black stuff, so then I could laugh at him. Not really that would be gross.

  5. Oh Tammy, you are so entertaining. I love your rugged adventures. It reminds me of some episodes of I Love Lucy many years ago. She was so hilarious. Always getting into a pickle...

My husband and I have a love hate relationship with our TV remote. My husband got a flat plasma TV and got fibre optic reception and we need the two remote to select channels. One time he accidentally got parental control lockup and couldn't even watch the news ha,ha,ha. Now he can't even select a channel as we have no reception. I HATE that Fibre Optic reception. It used to be so easy to watch TV. I seldom watch it anymore. Too damed complicated for old folks.

You can write a book on RV adventures in the wild, ha,ha,ha. I love reading your blog.
Keep warm and no more pink showers.
    Hugs,
    JB

    1. Why thank you Julia, I'm glad you think so. I figure I might as well be funny if I am going to blog right?
I am kind of known for getting into trouble. Why do they have to make them so complicated. Remember years ago you turned it on and that was it? I don't know about that, writing this blog is keeping me pretty busy. ha ha

  6. Great blog fodder, Tammy ... Hahaaa... way back when my husband and I liked each other? We borrowed his Mother's RV and headed to the Buffalo River ... a National River... We ... what did we do... can't remember... we certainly wouldn't empty any kind of tank here.

Regardless... a Ranger knocked on our door. Told us to step outside, please. Ask us who we were and identification. We were bewildered... a bit frightened.

The RV had been winterized and we were the first to use it and out came the pink stuff. I thought he was going to run us in... but after he saw it was the pink stuff and our total bewilderment .. he let us off with a STERN warning.

    Talk about stooopid.

gorgeous gorgeous sky and water... love it.

  7. Just had to laugh, I enjoy your blog so much. I always make hubby run all the pink stuff out before our first trip of the year (we aren't full timers yet, LOL). We also have a love hate relationship with our TV/DVD Remotes and every year we fight with them the first time we try to use them and always try to remember what we did to make it work last time, but the truth is, it was an accident, we don't have a clue what we did to make it work, but we always manage eventually. We're getting unwinterized and ready to take off on our first month long trip in about 2 weeks and we can't wait. Smiles

    1. Thank you I'm glad you do. We "thought" we had all the pink stuff out but we forgot the shower obviously.
Too many things to remember. I know you are excited. Be safe traveling. Take care.

  9. Someone mentioned Lucy (Lucille Ball) . . . well, before long you'll be wanting to watch "The Long, Long Trailer" again. We have a copy in our DVD library and I really think every full-timer should have one and watch it annually! Keeping a sense of humor will serve you well as your adventures continue!

    1. Hmmm, have never seen that before. That is one thing we were both blessed with is a sense of humor. And you need it doing this lifestyle.

  10. You gave us permission to laugh and laugh I did.... because we have a lot of those same memories. We have a love/hate relationship with our electonics of any kind. Joe hates them, I love them. So it works really well for us. I am really enjoying your blog and looking forward to tomorrow's adventure.

    1. Well you really didn't need permission, and I'm glad you laughed. I'm sure most RVers do have these kind of memories. I like my electronics once I figure them out and they don't fight me. Thank you I'm glad you are.
I'll see what I can come up with for the blog entry.

  11. Glad you are able to keep your sense of humor! Nothing worse that cold water spraying all over you. Gotta say a "pink" water accident is always better than a "black" water accident! A few bloggers had those problems last year and it was funny reading about them but probably not so funny to the guys with the yukky wet shoes!! have fun and thanks for keeping us laughing.

Always more fun ready about it than having it happen to your personally isn't it? Thank you and you are welcome, happy I can.

    1. Didn't take me long to get that hot water on I was freezing. This hot water tank is larger than our last one so I can take longer showers :)) And laughing makes you feel better for sure.

  13. I did not laugh at your dilemmas, but....I burst out laughing over the poor, cold, hungry guys! I hate those kind of batteries. If it helps, I bought AA batteries for a AAA flashlight. Go figure.

    1. Weren't they funny? I look out the window and they were so pathetic. I knew they were cold and Art was waiting on the potatoes to get done. I froze out!
I bought AAA batteries because 'most' remotes use them. I don't know what dummy decided to use a round one in this one. And they are expensive too.
