Wow does time go by fast! I can't believe it has been days since I have been on here.
I'll try to remember all the things that we have seen or done since we got back here.
Ok first thing first I GOT A PICTURE OF THE FAWNS!!!!!! I have been trying for days.
Their mama wasn't with them so maybe she was eating our of sight of us. I was only able to get a good picture of one but you can see the other in the trees to the left. They were standing about 8 feet from us and they are leery but not afraid.
When we got here on Wed after my 3rd epidural on my back, (I have a very bad back) we unloaded the car and then we worked up at the gate. We were solo this time on our own. It was great, we loved it.
We were not overly busy but enough that is was fun. It is so neat to work the gate and meet all the campers coming in to camp. I wanted to mention that Hardin Ridge is 1,000 acres that sits in the Hoosier National Forest. From Bloomington, go East on SR 46 to SR446 S, 11 miles to Chapel Hill Rd, South 2 miles to Hardin Ridge entrance. For those of you who are going to come down and see us...hint hint! And Lake Monroe is 10,750 acres, for those who have boats. There is a boat ramp in the park. You are allowed to park your boat on your site as long as you can stay on the pad and not get into the grass. You are also allowed to have 2 cars on your lot as long as they fit and once again not on the grass. One of the biggest differences to camping in the National Forest verses the State Park is you are allowed to pick up all the firewood you want from the forest floor to burn. In the state parks that is a huge no no. (After our June camp hosting in a State Park we know) That makes it cheaper to camp here not having to buy your wood.
Ok have to load another photo. This is Al and Dee our bosses....hee hee (that one is for you Al) He had to give me a hard time this morning at our safety meeting that I put hee hee after his name in my first entry.
This photo was taken at the beginning of our loop Southern Point. I cannot take credit for this photo, Dee uploaded it for me, but it was so gorgeous I just had to share it.
I also wanted to includes some photos of campsites. This particular site has a pond in back of it. So beautiful!!!
Most of the sites whether primitive or electric are huge. Some of the pads are gravel and some are asphalt. Some have water and electric some just electric.
These are two different styles of fire pits. They are so nice. Some are in the ground some are on top. Plus, all the sites have these poles. We have a hummingbird feeder, and flower on ours. You could hang a lattern, bird feeder, or your kids when not behaving :)) Just kidding!
And last I wanted to post this pictures of all these little pines on the hill side.
It is just so neat to see this. Reminds me of Yellowstone when we were out West.
Especially with the drought and all to see all this new growth is just so precious.
Once again this is just a beautiful park. It is so hard to believe we are in Indiana. I'm used to corn and soybeans. You just expect to see a bear or mountain lion come wondering out of the forest.
And the best part of all is meeting and working beside the nicest people. I'm sure many we will remain friends with for the rest of our lives. We played Euchre with two of them last night and had popcorn. What fun!
Until next time we send you hugs and best wished from Hardin Ridge.
What a great description of your park and all it offers! It makes me wish I was closer and could stop by. Working with good people makes all the difference in the world.
ReplyDeleteI sure wish you were close enough to visit too. If you ever get into In. you will know of a good place to camp.
DeleteHi almost neighbor! We are up in Brown County St. Park and have been since July 3rd. We sold our house, loaded up the motorhome and are new fulltimers. Our sticks and bricks home was just at the Greenwood / Whiteland, IN line. It will be fun following your adventures. When we had our sail boat, some of our early camping days were spent at Hardin Ridge. Oh my, the stories I could share with you! lol
ReplyDeleteDid you know that mountain lions once inhabited the hills of Brown County and Monroe?
Hello back. We have camped in Brown County several times.
DeleteHave you ever camp hosted anywhere? Would love to hear about all the adventures here at Hardin Ridge.
Yes, I did know that and even though it would be neat to see one....ah might make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Love seeing the wild turkeys too.
Hello, and welcome to the RV blog community. I got your link from Barbara over at Me and My Dog. Your description of the campground makes me want to visit!
ReplyDeleteOh Oh, I just went to post this and encountered the word verification. We had a big to do about that a few months ago and many bloggers will not leave comments if you have it ON.
I will a few times....
Thank you Merikay, I appreciate your well wishes. I am sorry but since I am so new to this I do not understand what you mean by word verification. Could you email me with some information. Thanks so much!!
DeleteWord verification has been turned off so you don't have to worry about encountering that any longer.
